It has been explained to me that I may not be an addict after all but rather an enthusiast. Semantics FTW!!
I was a pick addict. For a long time, I thought one pick was pretty much like another. Then someone gave me a set of Clayton "Pick of Destiny" mock ups. I thought they were cute, but then… then I noticed my attack had improved using them.
So I got a sampler pack from Clayton, and suddenly, I was switching picks all the time! I'd play with the Ultem pick for a while, then switch to the Sandshark, then try the Black Raven. I just couldn't decide which felt better. And then I saw a nylon jazz pick that I just had to try, then I was trying different weights of Sandsharks and super thin picks for strumming and it went on and On and ON…
…then, finally, one blessed day, I got a Dava control pick. It was like two picks in one. That was great, because I was always thinking I'd rather have one pick when I was using another one, and I couldn't work out how to use two. But, at last, I could. I felt… satisfied. The nightmare was over.
Until a month ago, when I learned that Dava makes control picks out of other materials beside Derlin. I… I bought a pack of gels last week. They come in multiple colors.
