It was 2004 when guitarist Rob Michael, drummer Joe Shotwell and (former Atmos Trio bass player) Jeff Obee decided they were not content to just play the music that their respective gigs as sidemen in other people’s musical projects presented. “We just wanted to play exciting, improvisation-based music that proived interesting to us, so we started getting together every Monday morning in Rob’s studio to just play.”
“As wonderful as it is to be asked to play on someone else’s project and help them realize their musical vision, we had to fulfill a musical vision of our own.” says Rob. “We didn’t even intend to start an ‘Official Group.'”
Since they were playing in the studio anyway, it was decided to start recording everything. That became their 2006 debut album “Atmos Trio.”
