Video Song Documentary: “Takin’ It to the Streets”

Here is my newest video offering: A cover of the classic Doobie Brothers‘ “Takin’ it to the Streets.”

What I’ve tried to do here is provide some documentary content: To really show what it is you’re hearing.

The audio and video for this song were tracked at the same time. What you hear and what you see are one-in-the-same. When you see a computer recording something in the background, you can bet that that is the audio you’re hearing in the recording. There is even some out-take footage.

This is one more way I’m inviting you into the making music process. I shot this on an inexpensive (~$100) consumer HD video camera and edited it in Final Cut Express HD. It was surprisingly easy.

As always, this song is available to you for streaming or downloading from my store at a Pay What You Want (even nothing) price. Please SHARE this music with friends via Facebook, Twitter, embed it in your blog, whatever… It’s a subtle way of showing your friends how hip you are and helping me out at the same time.

Love You to Hear This Song & All it Costs is a Tweet…

I’ve been working away in my studio with some new toys and thought I would share some results. It’s my gift to you, and all I request in return is a tweet.

This is my favorite Led Zeppelin tune The Rain Song. It features me playing guitars (Acoustic steel-string, hollowbody & my trusty Strat), bass guitar and some software synths. I thought I had nailed some super-great electronic percussion when my favorite drummer, Atmos’ Joe Shotwell came to the studio and blew my work away with his perfect and effortless playing.

So, please enjoy today’s musical offering with my compliments. If you have any questions or comments, I would love to know what you think!

Having just received my nylon-string guitar back the repair shop from my man Gary Brawer, I was excited to get back to work on some projects requiring this instrument.

I love playing this guitar, this excerpt from an upcoming album provides a glimpse into why.

These are live recordings that were never intended for release but that, upon reviewing years after the fact, seemed worthy of sharing with interested listeners.

These are from a time when the concept of The Atmos Trio was still crystalizing.

Hypothetical Premise-A live track that captured an early Atmos Trio as we tuned-up (2004). There is no preconceived composition– just a jam. We know what song sound like, so we made one up on the spot

Kylie-Another nearly forgotten track from the Atmos Studio archives. This track was recorded live during the 1st year Atmos Trio started playing together.

This composition is by San Diego guitarist Peter Sprague. Peter was one of my favorite teachers from when I attended GIT in the late ’80′s. If he hears this–I hope he digs it.

Travel Studio

When traveling, the inherant solitude can, at times, be a blessing.

Here is my hotel room studio in Hollywood. When it was time to leave, one trip to the car was all it took.
